botero_headshotI am an Assistant Professor in the Politics Department at Willamette University. I specialize in comparative judicial politics and courts and politics in young democracies. My dissertation and first book project study the role of courts in advancing socioeconomic rights in Latin America. My research has been supported by the Social Science Research Council and the National Science Foundation. My dissertation received the 2016 Law and Society Association Award for the dissertation that best represents outstanding work in law and society research.

My broader research and teaching interests include judicial politics, Latin American Politics, comparative political behavior, conceptualization and measurement, qualitative methods and mixed methods approaches to comparative politics.
